Getting Started

Before We Meet

Before your initial appointment, I offer a complimentary 10-15 minute telephone consultation.  This consultation involves no obligation, and it provides you with an opportunity to briefly discuss your situation, address any questions, and identify what next steps may be most helpful for you.  If we agree to make an initial appointment at the end of your phone consultation, please review and complete the forms, which I will send via email.

In order to set an initial consultation time, please feel free to leave me a confidential voicemail at 202-688-8682.  I try to return calls within 24 hours or the next business day for calls left over the weekend.  If you prefer, you can also contact me by email.  However, as security and prompt delivery of email cannot be guaranteed, please do not include sensitive clinical information, and never use email in an emergency.

First Appointment

Your initial appointment will provide you with an opportunity to begin to get to know me and my style as a therapist, and it will provide me with an opportunity to learn more about you and how I may help, should we decide to work together.  Given that the right “fit” between therapist and client is so important, I view the first couple of appointments as a chance for us to get to know one another with no obligation.  By the end of this initial appointment, I will provide you with my recommendations to either continue working together, or at that point, I will be equipped to provide you with recommendations and/or other referrals, should I not be a good match for your needs.
